Foster Carer Basics
When you first start looking at becoming a foster carer, there will be many things you will have questions about, such as what you can expect and what support is available.
The Foster Care Association of WA has created a Foster Care Handbook which provides a detailed overview of what a carer can expect.
One of the important matters a foster carer will need to understand is what decisions the carer or the Department of Communities make about a child in care. You can find more information in the Who can say OK in WA guides.

Foster Carer Association of WA
The Foster Care Association of WA has been working since 1979 to give a voice to and represent foster families to the Department of Community. Their services seek to enhance the ability of carers to respond to the challenges of fostering.
Foster Families South West Inc.
Fosters Families South West is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2007 to be an independent voice for foster carers in the region. They hold coffee catch ups monthly so carers can connect with others in the same situation and provide support.
