What is Kwaba Bidi?
Kwaba Bidi (meaning good path, good journey) is a service provider in Western Australia’s South West, focusing on improving the lives of Aboriginal children, families and the broader community in the region.
We work to give koorlangkas (children) the best possible start to life. Our services deal with supporting newborns all the way up to 25 year olds, seeking to support them in whatever situation they may face.
Our Services
Kwaba Bidi’s services are divided into three operations, each seeking to improve outcomes for Aboriginal children.
Regional Family Support Hub (South West)
Run in partnership with Key Assets Australia, the Regional Family Support Hub (South West) is Kwaba Bidi’s early intervention and family support service. Consisting of three programs, the Hub seeks to prevent children from entering the Out of Home Care system or return home by providing targeted support for families. The Hub is open to both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal families.
Out of Home Care
Kwaba Bidi has been offering Out of Home Care services for Aboriginal children since 2024. If an Aboriginal child must be removed from their immediate family, we work to make sure they remain connected to their Country, family and culture. Our service provision includes long term and short break care.
Home Stretch
For older Aboriginal teenagers who have been in care, Home Stretch is there to support them as they transition to adulthood. Kwaba Bidi provides support for 18 to 21 year olds to help them stay at home with their carers or move to independent living. Support is provided under a sub-contract from Mission Australia.
Financial Support
The programs operated by Kwaba Bidi are funded by the Department of Communities. We thank them for their
continued support of our programs and their commitment to improving outcomes for Aboriginal children and families in the
South West region.

As part of the South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS), Kwaba Bidi has the backing of the one of the largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations in regional Western Australia.
SWAMS has been serving the Aboriginal community in the South West for more than 25 years, founded on the principles of self determination, empowerment and freedom of choice. SWAMS recognises the right of
everyone to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.
